My senior thesis combines two of the things I am most passionate about: rock music and flamenco dancing. While developing this project, I reconnected with my roots since I learned many garment construction techniques from my mother, who taught me how to sew at a very young age. Rock and music, in general, are an integral part of me, and growing up watching American MTV exposed me to a lot of rock music and pop culture that I still treasure. Also, as a flamenco dancing enthusiast, I experimented with combining the passion and sensuality of flamenco dance with the rebellious essence of rock to break boundaries in terms of gender, societal norms, silhouettes, and current beauty standards by celebrating a wide variety of body types.
